This amount is different from the annual CASR amount of Wipro and is in addition to spending on philanthropy of Azeem Premji Foundation. The Wipro Group said, "Considering the unprecedented health and humanitarian crisis arising out of Kovid-19, Wipro Limited, Wipro Enterprises and Azimpremji Foundation will together spend Rs. 1125 crore. This money will be spent on helping people, health facilities etc. in the affected areas. It will be implemented by a team of 1600 employees of Azim Premji Foundation.
Recently, news of the donation of Rs 50,000 crore for Kovid-19 by Premji Foundation was becoming quite viral, but was incorrect. That news was related to a 2019 donation.
