On April 18, World Heritage Day began to celebrate the diversity and protection of cultural-historical and natural heritage for awareness at protected sites. A seminar organized by the International Council of Mountains and Sight in Tunisia suggested celebrating World Heritage Day on 18 April 1982, which was accepted by the Executive Committee. The committee sits once a year and decides whether to include any nominated property in the World Heritage List. The World Heritage Sites Committee supervises selected specific places, such as forest areas, mountains, lakes, deserts, monuments, buildings or cities, etc. in consultation with UNESCO.
