New Delhi: 'RAW' movie review: Raw is the story of Romeo Akbar Walter during 1971 when there was a war between India and Pakistan. Apart from the patriots fighting in the battle of the field, there are people who are anonymous but their sacrifice is not less. 'RAW' is a similar film in which the story of a detective has been shown, which is to execute a mission. John Abraham has played this role of detective. But due to the thrill and drawn story, the fun becomes gritty.

RAW movie review: John Abraham's good acting but weak story is RAW

The story of RAW is from John Abraham. On whom the Chief of the Intelligence Department Jackie Shroff looks and chooses it for an under-covered mission. Romeo gets a new identity and goes out on his mission in Pakistan. In this way, Romeo gets involved in his mission, but what is the fate of him, it will be known only by watching this movie. Being a film based on John Abraham and Detective's life, there will be a spice action in it, it would be a big mistake to think about it. Though the subject matter of the story is good, the treatment of the film spoils the flavor. Director Robbie Grewal is not successful in screening his idea.

The film's move is slow and the story also weakens on many occasions. John Abraham's focus is on patriotic films these days, and he has played the character of Romeo Akbar Walter and he has tried his best to land it in character. Jackie Shroff is also fine as head of the intelligence department. Sikandar Kher has done good acting. Mouni Roy is also in the film but that is the advice of Mauni that she should think of her strong role rather than big films.

In this period of patriotic films, RAW comes with a good subject but due to weak directing and drawn story, the film descends on track. Anyway, we have seen such wonderful films like 'Raji', there were great expectations from 'RAW', but the film does not come true on that criterion.

    Rating: 2.5 **

    Director: Robbie Grewal

Cast: John Abraham, Jackie Shroff, Sikander Kher and Mouni Roy
